Amazingly enough, it looks like the river is, for the first weekend in a goldfishes memory, rowable. So come down and remind yourself what an oar looks like. Might be worth bringing wellies though, because the ground will be wet!
Goring and Streatley Regatta is now confirmed for Saturday the 20th July at Streatley Farm water meadow. All the fun of the fair, the excitement of rowing and a great day out for the whole family. If you are interested in having a stall at the Regatta, or in any other aspect of the event, please contact RegattaChairman@goringgapbc.org.uk
BBC Oxford TV recently did a piece about flooding on the Thames, and when they wanted to film the effects of flooding on local river users, they came down to Gatehampton for an interview. It ‘s just a pity that they were there because, once again we are flooded, although this time it’s much less severe than it was last year.
All are invited to join Goring Gap Boat Club for an evening with Zac Purchase Olympic oarsman and the launch of the New Boathouse Appeal on Thursday 21st March 2013 at 7.30. Open to non members.
Zac will talk about his Olympic experiences and GGBC committee members will provide a summary of the plans for a new boathouse.
I am sure that it will come as no surprise to learn that our facilities at Hardwick are again under a couple of feet of water. Irrespective of the river conditions, therefore, there will be no rowing this weekend.
We will update members as soon as conditions improve and we can access the site again.
