Flooding on the news

BBC Oxford TV recently did a piece about flooding on the Thames, and when they wanted to film the effects of flooding on local river users, they came down to Gatehampton for an interview. It ‘s just a pity that they were there because, once again we are flooded, although this time it’s much less severe than it was last year.

Wellies in the shed

Site flooded again

I am sure that it will come as no surprise to learn that our facilities at Hardwick are again under a couple of feet of water. Irrespective of the river conditions, therefore, there will be no rowing this weekend.

We will update members as soon as conditions improve and we can access the site again.

Rowing again!

The flood waters have receded (although there are still some deep puddles). We cleared out the shed this morning and as we expected, there wasn’t any significant damage.

We celebrated by going for a row – and subject to the normal risk assessments, regular Saturday and Sunday sessions are back on. We look forward to seeing you on the river – but bring wellies or shoes you don’t mind getting muddy.

Matthew Crowder took these pictures of our site on Thursday – it may be some time before we can access the shed and start the cleanup.
