AGM 28 November

Following the committee meeting yesterday we are writing to let you know of a proposed change to the club rules. Rule 16 currently states:

The Committee shall consist of:-Chairman, Honorary Secretary, Honorary Treasurer, Captain of rowing, Captain of boats, Regatta Chairman, Social Secretary, Membership Secretary and up to 5 other members.

The committee proposes that this rule should be amended to remove the role of Regatta Chairman from the list of required positions on the committee and include this role as one of 5 other members if necessary. The reason for this is that the regatta is no longer an annual event and therefore does not require a dedicated committee post every year. The regatta organisation will be taken on by the whole committee led by the club Chairman with the involvement of club members.

The new rule will state:

The Committee shall consist of:-Chairman, Honorary Secretary, Honorary Treasurer, Captain of rowing, Captain of boats, Social Secretary, Membership Secretary and up to 5 other members which may include Regatta Chairman .

This rule change will be put to the club at the AGM for agreement.

We look forward to seeing as many club members as possible at the AGM to be held at 7.30pm in Goring Social Club, followed by a very brief GGBC Ltd AGM.

And now the news you’ve all been waiting for!

Move to the new boathouse

The committee agreed yesterday that we will aim to start operating from the new boathouse at Lower Basildon from the beginning of January, hopefully the weekend of 5/6 January subject to gaining the necessary approvals and the ongoing work at the site being completed to the point of us being able to row from there.

Between now and then there is a lot to do and we are grateful to all those who have contributed to the work on site so far. We would like to encourage all members to make a visit to the site if you have not already been there. Dates will be circulated shortly when this will be possible and we will also be arranging induction sessions to explain how we will be operating from the new site.
