We are delighted that our fundraising appeal raised enough to start the new boathouse. Thank you to all our donors and to everyone involved in our fundraising events.
We were lucky to get matched funding for the ‘Buy a Brick’ scheme of £10,000 from the Gatehampton Trust. We also received some stunningly generous donations from several people outside the club.
Unfortunately construction costs rose since we first got planning permission. We raised £34,000 in the appeal and with more expected from upcoming events, we are confident that we can pay for phase 1. We will start once we get confirmation of our grants from Sport England and the Greenham Common Trust.
We need to start phase 2 of the building project as soon as possible after we build the boathouse shell, so we must continue fundraising.
Here is a list of our future events:
- Barn Dance on 20 May in Goring Village Hall, contact Tanya Morris.
- Sponsored Row on 3 June from Oxford to Reading, contact Nick Josephy.
- Goring & Streatley Regatta 22 July, contact Brian Barnes.
- Wine tasting on 30 September in Pangbourne Working Men’s Club, contact Tim Armstrong.
We hope that you are as excited as we are to have reached this milestone in the club’s history! We look forward to seeing the construction of the boathouse start shortly.
