New Boathouse

We are finally rowing from our new boathouse!

In 2017 we began building our first boathouse with the support of the Yattendon Estate, Sport England, the  Greenham Common Trust and various other funding bodies.

It provides access to a wide, 6km stretch of the Thames between Goring Lock and Whitchurch Lock in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
There is a significant straight stretch suitable for side-by-side racing/coaching. The river is shared only with Pangbourne College Boat Club.

The new GGBC Boathouse is located off the A329 in Lower Basildon near Streatley and Goring, next to Gatehampton railway bridge.

Goring Train Station (Reading/ Oxford Line) is 3.5km North. Pangbourne Station on the same line is 4km South. Oxford is a 40 min drive. Reading can be reached in 25 mins.

Our site looks a bit sparse compared with the unobtrusive wildlife haven that it will be. The ground between the boat house and the river will be full of waist high sedge grasses. The waterfront will be full of bulrushes and marginal plants. The car park is in progress. Later this year it will be finished to a much higher standard.
