Learn to Row 2026

If you are interested in learning to row then our beginner courses are a great place to start.

Over five sessions, we’ll teach you the fundamentals of rowing in a fun, safe and supportive environment.  There are four water-based sessions at our rowing club on consecutive Saturdays from 1:00–4:30pm and one land-based session on a Wednesday evening from 7:00–9:00pm at the Radley College indoor rowing tank.

The dates for our 2026 courses are:

  • Spring course: Saturdays 18, 25 April, 2, 9 May and Wednesday evening 29 April
  • Summer course: Saturdays 13, 20, 27, June and 4 July and Wednesday evening 24 June.

The course costs £165 per participant, and is open to juniors (ages 13-17) and adults.  There are 16 places on each course.

Once you have completed the course, if you’d like to continue rowing then you’re welcome to join the club.

If you are interested in joining a course, then please email Stuart at L2R@goringgapbc.org.uk.

We use our fleet of four touring boats, sponsored by Charles Stanley Wealth Management. These provide a stable and comfortable platform to put into practice the British Rowing stroke that we teach.

Subject to availability, we try to give participants on the course a session at the rowing tank, either in Oxford University’s Athletics Ground, or, as in the video below, in Radley College. The rowing tank means that the platform is literally rock solid, and makes it easy to perfect your technique.
