An opportunity for GGBC members to support the new Boathouse appeal by acquiring a unique print of the Hardwick Boathouse painted for this purpose by local artist Jenny Gill. Hopefully a nice momento of outings on the Mapledurham to Whitchurch reach where many of us first learned to row. Prints will be supplied fully mounted and ready for framing or immediate display. Prices – A4 size £20.00, A3 size £25.00. To order email .  Click the picture on the left to see a large image of the print or there is a sample of an A4 print with the admin folder in the boat shed which you can see before buying.

Boathouse challenge weekend – fundraising for the new boathouse

Thanks to all who participated in the Boathouse Challenge this weekend, particularly those who helped with the set up, clear up, cooking and coxing and especially to those who collected their £10 notes to take away and generate funds for the new boathouse.

We have a long way to go to reach our target of £350,000 but every bit helps so even if each person only doubles the money and brings back £20 in six months we will be grateful. Of course, we would be delighted if club members could raise more and if everyone in the club takes £10 and turns it into £100 we could easily raise several thousand pounds over the next few months.

A great many ideas for raising funds were discussed over the weekend, in between races and bacon rolls, and club members are turning their hands to making and selling a variety of arts,  crafts and edible goodies, organising events ranging from auctions, meals and wine tasting to trips to casinos and car boot sales! We even made a start on generating profit during the course of the weekend – Annie took her £10 note away on Saturday, bought ingredients, made cakes and brought them back to sell to club members on Sunday!

Many club members also took away collection jars for loose change and one was even filled overnight and a second one taken the next day – well done Hugh!

T shirts from previous regattas were also on sale at a bargain price of £5 and were snapped up by a number of member’s. They will continue to be on sale at club sessions.

If anyone was unable to make this weekend’s sessions and would like a £10 or a collection jar please let me know via or 07981 516009 and I will bring it to a club session.

If you would like to advertise any fundraising activities you are organising or keep track of progress towards our target please contact Ros Crowder.

We have acquired three items of clothing left behind by members over the weekend – let me know if you have lost a top or a jacket.

Many thanks to all who participated in the Boathouse Challenge weekend and good luck with the fundraising!
