Santa Row cancelled

We regret that due to the river conditions, the state of our site, and the weather outlook, we have no alternative but to cancel the Santa Row this year. Rowing also looks unlikely for Sunday – although we will probably check the conditions first hand on the day.

The Committee plans to arrange a fun event in January instead in order to kick off our rowing year. If this rain persists, we will also consider purchasing an ark to add to our fleet ….

Rowing again!

The flood waters have receded (although there are still some deep puddles). We cleared out the shed this morning and as we expected, there wasn’t any significant damage.

We celebrated by going for a row – and subject to the normal risk assessments, regular Saturday and Sunday sessions are back on. We look forward to seeing you on the river – but bring wellies or shoes you don’t mind getting muddy.

Flooding pictures

Matthew Crowder took these pictures of our site on Thursday – it may be some time before we can access the shed and start the cleanup.

Making rowing easier

The committee have been aware for a while that members have found it slightly tiresome to have to carry boats from the racks to the river. Accordingly arrangements have been made to move the river. Boats can now be launched directly from the racks. We hope all members will appreciate this action taken on your behalf by the rain gods.
